Email Your Congress Members

Guidance

Thank you for supporting the Farmers Protest and human rights in India.

Please use the form below to send a message to your elected officials. To be most effective it is important that you send a message to the elected officials who represent your district and state. Members of Congress and the Senate are more likely to take action on the concerns of their constituents.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. Please personalize your message.
  2. Discuss why you care about the treatment of those involved in the Farmers Protests.
  3. You do not have to raise every concern, just those you feel most comfortable addressing.
  4. Please ask the elected officials to speak out and take action.
  5. You do not have to be a U.S. citizen to reach out – anyone who lives in the district should send a message.

Some ideas about what you can talk about:

  1. If you attended a rally in the United States.
  2. If you have any family members in India who are impacted by the human rights violations.
  3. If you have any U.S. citizen family who are in India, you can ask your Member of Congress/Senator for help to ensure they are safe. Please note, they will want to follow up with you for more information.
  4. Your concerns about the use of force by the police, detention, the conditions of the protest camps, or the attacks on the press, censorship, and the internet cutoff.
  5. You can ask your elected officials to: (1) make a statement; (2) send a message to the Indian embassy; and/or (3) ask President Biden to reach out the Indian government.
