Time is running out to apply to SALDEF’s SikhLEAD Initiative. SIkhLEAD is now accepting applications for the next class of the Leadership Development Program (LDP), but not for long. Applications are due by midnight EST, July 27. SALDEF invites all creative, daring minds to apply today! LDP is a two-part program that brings together approximately 18 young Sikh American advocates from across the country to participate in eight days of mandatory training spread over two holiday weekends (Columbus Day and Memorial Day). Part I of the training will be held in Washington, DC from October 10-14, 2014 and Part II will be held in Los Angeles, CA from May 22-25, 2015. The program fee of $250 covers round trip airfares (to Washington, DC and Los Angeles), lodging, food and program materials for both parts of the LDP program. Limited need-based financial assistance is available. The application deadline is Sunday, July 27, 2014. Participants will have an opportunity to cultivate their entrepreneurial skills and ability to innovate while staying true to their convictions, and will discover ways to accelerate the path to success.  LDP Jasjit groupThe aim of LDP is to empower Sikh American youth (ages 18-27) to become effective changemakers committed to exploring and realizing both their personal potential and that of the Sikh American community. This program is an investment in building the next generation of Sikh American luminaries as they recognize their power, explore their true potential and build a network with like-minded achievers. LDP graduates have been inspired to create new pathways for Sikhs Americans—including Jasleen Kaur Singh, creator of The Sikh Monologues, and Gurpreet Singh Sarin, a semi-finalist on American Idol.
