WHAT IS IT? Leadership Development Program (LDP) is a two part program designed to inspire, develop, and support a diverse, motivated, and innovative group of young Sikh American pioneers as they prepare for a lifetime of community engagement and leadership. The program brings together approximately 18 young Sikh American leaders from across the country to participate in six days of training spread over two holiday weekends (Memorial Day and Columbus Day). WHAT DOES IT REQUIRE? Participation in (and reading prior) to both weekends is mandatory. A series of challenging workshops, group activities and thought provoking discussions promotes personal growth, develops leadership and builds community empowerment skills. PERKS? Access to SikhLEAD’s exclusive speaker series Hear from established American changemakers about ways to make a difference and then connect through powerful conversations. Speakers have included: US Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta, Congresswoman Judy Chu, Congressman Ami Bera, former Apple CMO Satjiv Singh Chahil, lawyer and politician Harmeet Kaur Dhillon, Common Ground President Craig Bowman and marathoner Fauja Singh! saldef-sikhlead-group-photo-2013Membership to an exclusive SikhLEAD alumni network Join a comprehensive network of Sikh American Leaders who have shared the SikhLEAD experience and gone on to pursue lifelong dreams which support and increase awareness about our community. LDP graduates—who get together for annual reunions— have been inspired to create new pathways for Sikhs Americans—including Parminder Singh Deo, Associate Producer, NBC News, Jasleen Kaur Singh, creator of The Sikh Monologues, and Gurpreet Singh Sarin, a semi-finalist on American Idol. Two personally and professionally invigorating weekends in DC and LA Part I of the training will be held in Los Angeles, CA from May 27 – May 30, 2016  and Part II will be held in Washington D.C., from October 7 – 10, 2016.
