TAKE ACTION: Tell Your Congressmen to Stop Racial Profiling

Today, Congress will take an important step in the fight to end racial profiling in our country. For the first time in ten years, the Senate will host a hearing on racial profiling. And SALDEF will be there.

Watch the hearing live here and follow our live coverage on Twitter.

It is important that Congress knows the Sikh American community opposes racial profiling. Click here to send a message to your members of Congress today urging them to co-sponsor the End Racial Profiling Act.

Racial profiling allows Sikh Americans and others to be singled out for questioning, detention, and other law enforcement activities based on their religion or ethnicity rather than their individual behaviors. Additionally, states like Arizona and Alabama have passed draconian anti-immigration laws in which American citizens are forced to prove their citizenship simply because they look different or have an accent.

Learn if your Congressman supports a law which would:

  • Require training on racial profiling issues as part of law enforcement training
  • Allow the community to know if law enforcement is engaging in racial profiling
  • Improve the response to incidents of racial profiling
  • Prohibit racial profiling by any law enforcement agent or law enforcement agency

Take a stand against racial profiling and urge members of Congress to take action.Write to members of Congress today to urge that they co-sponsor the End Racial Profiling Act!

Personalize your letter to make it even more effective. Tell your Congressmen that putting an end to racial and religious profiling is important to you!
