SALDEF held a Know Your Rights forum at the Guru Nanak Religious Society in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday, June 16th. The forum which informs the Sikh Community about their civil rights was attended by over 150 members of the Sangat.
Speakers at the forum included Victor Ciapas and Blane Wetzel of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Ronnell Tomlinson of the Ohio Civil Rights Commission. During the presentation, Victor Ciapas stated “if you think you are a victim of crime, please call FBI. If you don’t call we will not know, and if we don’t know, we can not help you.”
As always, we’re on the frontlines. We are making sure that our community’s concerns and needs are being addressed. Whether it’s training and recruiting new volunteers, passing legislation to condemn hate crimes, or holding events such as Know Your Rights forums, we exist to serve you.
