When SALDEF was founded in 1996, it was with a simple idea: to serve and empower the Sikh American community. It is both with a great sense of accomplishment and humility that we observe our 15 year anniversary this week. We know our work would not be possible without the generous support and encouragement of the community! In our 15 years, we have produced groundbreaking educational resources, addressed anti-Sikh bias in the media, and overturned discriminatory legislation. SALDEF will continue to develop and deliver solutions that ensure we collectively succeed without ever compromising our beliefs or identity. As the nation’s oldest Sikh American civil rights organization, join us in our mission of creating an America where Sikhs are seen as an accepted and integral part of society. Additionally, join us in celebrating our 15 year anniversary at the annual National Gala in Washington, DC on October 8, 2011. For more details, click here.
