Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez (U.S. Department of Justice)
We met with Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez today. He is the head of the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice. It was a chance for us to share some of the issues that we are concerned about and to provide constructive recommendations about how the Department can better respond to employment discrimination and post-9/11 backlash. He is very committed to combating discrimination and making sure that all are treated equally. AAG Perez congratulated the community for overturning the ban on religious grab in Oregon. This meeting helped to make sure that the Sikh American community has a strong relationship with the Department of Justice.
