As the nation’s oldest Sikh-American advocacy organization, SALDEF has worked to:

• Train government agencies including the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), law enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) on Sikhism.
• Fight for the freedom of religion to allow Sikhs to wear our articles of faith in professional settings, federal, state, and local government, and school districts across the United States
• Combat censorship and misrepresentation of the Sikh community
• Advocate against hate crimes in the halls of Congress and through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Faith-Based Security Advisory Council
