SALDEF is proud to announce the successful completion of the 2022 SikhLEAD Leadership Development Program (LDP) last weekend! This year’s Leadership Program included 13 talented young Sikh American women and men from across the United States with various education, professional and socioeconomic backgrounds.
“The LDP participants brought their ideas, passion, and desire to learn from each other and from our skilled facilitators. They were great about capitalizing on each other’s strengths to creatively explore and deliver on their ideas. From tackling healthcare issues to improving ways to manage a Gurdwara, each of them was bold enough to bring their big ideas, utilize their skills, and identify solutions that could benefit the Sikh community. I am confident that the impact of their work will be highly significant and will inspire others to follow in their footsteps.” reflected Program Director Sharan Singh.
The SikhLEAD Leadership Program is a seven-month-long transformational program that empowers Sikh American youth to become effective leaders committed to exploring and realizing both their personal potential and that of the Sikh American community. Participants gain skills in areas such as leadership development, effective communication, community organizing, public speaking, and teamwork. This year the participants had the opportunity to attend virtual workshops on topics such as servant leadership, upside-down advocacy, and finding your inner leader. The curriculum requires participants to design and successfully implement a community project by forming their own teams, in order to graduate from the Leadership Development Program.
