Students: Experience DC This Summer and Get Paid!

In 2011, SALDEF launched the Sikh American community’s first ever Congressional Internship Program, under its new SikhLEAD initiative, to encourage political and civic engagement amongst Sikh American youth. The program partners with Congressional offices and federal agencies to place exceptional Sikh American college students, graduate students, and recent graduates in internship positions on Capitol Hill and throughout Washington D.C.

For this summer’s interns, SALDEF is pleased to announce stipends of $1,500 for successful completion of the Internship Program.  Additionally, SALDEF will cover the cost of travel to and from DC for interns.

Through this program, young Sikh American leaders will have access to a competitive opportunity that will serve to further their academic and professional aspirations.  Additionally, throughout the internship, SALDEF will host a series of special programming events including, leadership workshops, networking events, and social outings in D.C., to further contribute to the overall experience of the interns.

College students and recent graduates of all academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Application deadline for Summer 2013 is February 3rd at 11:59PM EST and early applications will be given preference.

This exciting experience will allow interns to:

  • explore a potential career track
  • create a network of contacts
  • develop professional skills and build confidence
