The Story Behind the Sikh Deputy on FOX [VIDEO]

I’m Bobby Singh, a Regional Director for SALDEF and proud Houston resident. Thanks to the partnership formed between SALDEF’s Law Enforcement Partnership Program and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) in February 2015, the Sheriff’s Office revised their grooming standards to allow Sikh deputies to serve while wearing Sikh articles of faith, including dastaars and beards. In doing so, HSCO has become the largest police department in the country to allows Sikhs to join their department. I am so grateful that today Deputy Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal can serve Harris County and also practice Sikhi. Please support SALDEF’s Law Enforcement Partnership Program TODAY so we ensure that other Sikhs can practice their faith and serve in other law enforcement units across the country. I humbly ask that you consider donating 50, 100, or 150 dollars to SALDEF today so they can continue this work. And thanks to the media training sessions Deputy Dhaliwal and I received from SALDEF’s Media team, we have confidence when we share this Sikh story with media outlets. Please join me in supporting SALDEF generously at this time so that they can continue to train local law enforcement and support Sikh Americans who are bettering their communities. With thanks, Bobby Singh, Regional Director, SALDEF
