SALDEF Statement on the Pursuit of Justice for Inderjit Singh Mukker: We are encouraged by the decision of the DuPage State’s Attorney’s Office to file a hate crimes charge in the attack on Mr. Inderjit Singh Mukker. It is important that acts of hate be recognized for what they are, and that the government recognizes their impact on minority communities. It is fitting that the decision to bring the charge was brought today as we remember the passing of Balbir Singh Sodhi, the first post-9/11 backlash fatality. We will continue to stand with the Mukker family and all victims of hate.
