SALDEF Launches Know Your Rights Posters

SALDEF is excited to announce the launch of our new Know Your Rights posters for sangats across the country. The new Know Your Rights posters were created to help the Sikh American Community understand their rights and know where to look for additional support. The posters, created by SALDEF Creative Arts Fellow Vishavjit Singh, aim to highlight and identify potential civil rights and discriminatory policies for Sikh American men and women and assist them in reporting these incidents.

Over the past few years, SALDEF has seen a marked increase in hate crimes and discrimination- this has been coupled with cases of school bullying, the rise in hate groups and the increased divisive nature throughout the nation that targets immigrant and minority groups.

“It is of paramount importance that our community understands their rights and the importance of reporting any and all violations to their civil and human rights,” said SALDEF Executive Director Kiran Kaur. “These posters will serve as a tool to empower the community to better understand their rights and act as a reminder to be vigilant in documenting and reporting any potential cases.”

If you are interested in getting these posters for your local Gudwara, business, or to hang in another location please contact media@saldef.org.  Additionally, if you are interested in having a Know Your Rights, School Bullying or Law Enforcement training in your local community please contact info@saldef.org.

SALDEF is here to protect, grow and empower Sikh Americans nationwide.
