Meet the Sikhs Serving Our Country This Summer

Please join SALDEF in welcoming our future Sikh American leaders who have arrived in D.C. from communities across the nation. These 16 interns are making their mark this summer with our nation’s most powerful leadership—from Capitol Hill to federal agencies to reputable D.C. powerhouses like the American Enterprise Institute (AEI). These Sikh Americans will develop relationships with our nation’s leaders, learn how to channel their Sikh values in their careers, and gain meaningful professional experience that will prepare them to serve the Sikh community! We also want to thank our sponsors who have made this program possible: The Sikh American Community, Ik Manzil, W.K. Kellogg and Comcast.  We are grateful for your support in creating our largest SikhLEAD class in SALDEF’s 20-year history! Best, The SALDEF Team

We were so honored to co-host Langar on the Hill again yesterday with Congressman Mike Honda. We had a record turn out of over 500 people attend our annual Langar on the Hill, and we could not have done this without his support! #langaronthehill2016

Honored to again co-lead Langar on the Hill 2016. It’s an annual celebration of the Sikh institution of Langar that highlights the diversity of the Sikh Community in our nation. The institution of Langar (community kitchen) was developed over 500 years ago at the foundation of the Sikh religion and is traditionally served in Gurdwaras (temples) across the world. Langar is prepared and served through the seva (selfless service) of the community. Thank you SALDEF for managing this event!
