Interested in government, management, or leadership? If so, please consider applying to SALDEF’s SikhLEAD 2017 DC Summer Internship Program today! Here’s what participant Avneet Kaur Chawla had to say about the internship program: “Out of 11 interns in my office, I am one of two interns of color. Though my colleagues might not think twice about it, I am aware of it every day and forced to be an ambassador of my culture and faith. “SALDEF’s SikhLEAD internship helped me get this position, and gave me the confidence to stand up to any odds stacked against me. As an intern in Senator Richard Durbin’s (IL) office, I am able to educate my colleagues and superiors on the Sikh religion, and bring to attention issues that Sikh-Americans like myself face.” Join Avneet in having an unparalleled summer experience by applying to SikhLEAD now! The internship program is an 8-12 week, D.C.-based experience allowing college students, graduate students, and recent graduates to explore a potential career track while creating a network of professional and personal contacts. SALDEF has now placed over 40 interns on Capitol Hill, at the White House, and across Washington, D.C. We also host a series of special programs—including leadership workshops and networking events—to develop the next generation of Sikh American leaders. SALDEF supports each participant with a $1,500 stipend upon satisfactory completion of internship. Curious?
