SALDEF’s Gala is an annual tradition in which we celebrate Sikh American achievements and showcase SALDEF’s accomplishments from the past year. This year’s gala—”An American Story”— will feature entertainment by Red Baraat–heralded by NPR as a “bhangra-powered party starter”—alongside this year’s awardees:
- Dr. Narinder Singh Kapany, the father of fiber optics and leading philanthropist
- GAP Inc.’s and advertising agency Peterson Milla Hooks, for proudly featuring the Sikh American identity in their campaign, “Make Love,” even in the face of ignorance
- The Southern Poverty Law Center, honored for their leadership and commitment to positive change and advocacy
