“Your particular faith sits comfortably with so many others that aspire to be about equality, about virtue, about community, about work, about faith, and about a commitment to one another”, said Gov. Baker. “[The state] appreciates your culture, your faith, and your belief in one another.”
“It was a pleasure to host Gov. Baker and we are incredibly thankful that he took out the time to meet with the local Sikh American community,” said SALDEF’s Director of Government and Community Relations, Satnam Singh, who played an integral role in bringing the Governor to the grand opening. “This was an excellent opportunity for local Sikh American residents to meet with and gain the support of their elected representatives while celebrating the grand opening of their Gurdwara.”

This event is another part of SALDEF’s continued contribution to the Boston Area Sikh American community, including continuing to train local and federal law enforcement officers across the region and holding the first-ever Gurdwara safety workshop last year.
Additionally, earlier this year, we organized a Know Your Rights Forum at the Gurdwara Sikh Sangat Boston. These forums help local Sikh American communities better understand their civil rights, identify local agencies that provide aid, and form relationships with their local law enforcement and government agencies. To request a Know Your Rights Forum in your city or at your local Gurdwara, please complete this form or contact email@example.com.
Finally, SALDEF will be hosting an Anti-Bullying Workshop to be held at the Gurdwara Boston Sikh Sangat in Everett, MA on Sunday, October 29, 2017 1-2pm. Participants will include the Massachusetts Commission Against Bullying, U.S. Attorney’s Office and SALDEF Vice Chair Navjeet Singh. To schedule a similar event in your area, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
